( Boldness Before the Throne @ 9:53 PM )

Jesus tells us . . . , "When you pray, pray like this. "Our Father who is in heaven, hallowed by Thy name. Thy kingdom come."
When you say, "Thy kingdom come, "you are inviting the Messiah himself to walk into your world. "Come, my King! Take your throne in our land. Be present in my heart. Be Lord of my family, my fears and my doubts." This is no feeble request; it's a bold appeal for God to occupy every corner of my life.
[And] who are you to ask such a thing? Who are you to ask God to take control of your world? You are His child, for heaven's sake! And so you ask boldly.

( The Worshipful Heart @ 12:01 PM )

We still struggle for the right words in prayer. We still fumble over Scripture. We don't know when to kneel. We don't know when to stand. We don't know to pray.
Worship is a daunting task.
For that reason, God gave us the Psalms - a praise book for God's people . . . This collection of hymns and petitions are strung together by one thread - a heart hungry for God.
Some are defiant. Others are reverent. Some are to be sung. Others are to be prayed. Some are intensely personal. Others are written as if the whole world would use them . . .
The very variety should remind us that worship is personal. No secret formula exists. What moves you may stymie another. Each worships differently. But each should worship

( An Old Man's Prayer @ 11:10 AM )

Have you heard the story about the 85-year-old man who was arrested for praying?
You probably have. That's the story of Daniel, an elderly Jewish man in Babylon who was sentenced to death for faithfully talking to God. (Dan.6)
Although the prayer that sent Daniel to the lions' den in his most famous talk with God. (6:11), it wasn't the only time we see him in prayer.
In Daniel 9, we read an example of how he prayed. Daniel had been reading in his scroll of Jeremiah that the captivity of his people would last 70 years, and the people were 67 years the exile (Jer 25:8-11). He was eager of it to end.
God had called His people to live righteously, but they weren't doing that. Daniel decided to live righteously despite their lack of faith. He began to pray that God would not delay the end of the captivity.
As he prayed, Daniel focused on worship and confession. His pattern of prayer gives us an important insight into talking to God. We are to recognize that God is "great and awesome" (v.4) and that "we have sinned" (v.15). In prayer, we praise and confess.
Let's follow Daniel's lead. To him, prayer was as vital as life itself.
What privilege is mine to come
Before the Father's throne,
To speak to Him in earnest prayer,
Make all my wishes known
No one stands as tall as a Christian on his knees
