Wednesday, May 30, 2007 ( A Life of Service @ 11:11 AM ) This is no cruise ship; it's a battleship. We aren't called to a life of leisure; we are called to a life of service. Each of us has a different task. Some, concerned with those who are drowning, are snatching people from the water. Others are occupied with the enemy, so they man the cann0ns of prayer and worship. Still others devote themselves to the crew, feeding and training the crew members. Though different, we are the same. Each can tell of a personal encounter with the captain, for each has received a personal call . . . We each followed Him across the gangplank of His grace onto the same boat. There us one captain and one destination. Though the battle is fierce, the boat is safe, for our captain is God. The ship will not sink. For that, there is no concern. 0 comments Tuesday, May 29, 2007 ( More Than Meets the Eye @ 10:28 PM ) Eyes see the prowling lion. Faith sees Daniel's angel. Eyes see storms. Faith sees Noah's rainbow. Eyes see giants. Faith sees Canaan. Your eyes see your faults. Your faith sees Your Savior. Your eyes see your guilt. Your faith sees his blood. Your eyes look in the mirror and see a sinner, a failure, a promise-breaker. But by faith you look in the mirror and see a robed prodigal bearing the ring of grace on your finger and the kiss of your Father on your face. Faith means being sure of the things we hope for and knowing that something is real even if we do not see it - Hebrews 11:1 0 comments Monday, May 28, 2007 ( His Faithfulness @ 11:46 AM ) Each day the Lord gives us is an expression of His faithfulness and provides opportunities to live for Him. 0 comments Sunday, May 27, 2007 ( Prayers Are Precious Jewels @ 9:25 PM ) [Your] prayers are honored [in heaven] as precious jewels. Purified and empowered, the words rise in a delightful fragrance to our Lord . . . Your words do not stop until they reach the very throne of God . . . Your prayer on earth activates God's power in heaven, and "God will is done on earth as it is in heaven.". . . Your prayers move God to change the world. You may not understand the mystery of prayer. You don't need to. But this much is clear: Actions in heaven begin when someone prays on earth. 0 comments Saturday, May 26, 2007 ( Reflecting God's Glory @ 3:52 PM ) The connection between the face and worship is more than coincidental. Our face is most public part of our bodies, covered less than any other area. It is also most recognizable part of our bodies. We don't fill a school annual with photos of people's feet but rather with photos of faces. God desires to take our faces, this exposed and memorable part of our bodies, and use them to reflect His goodness. 0 comments ( Lay Down Your Cares @ 10:42 AM ) Even if you've fallen, even if you've failed, even if everyone else has rejected you, Christ will not turn away from you. He came first and foremost to those who have no hope. He goes to those no one else would go to and says, "I'll give you eternity." Only you can surrender your concerns to the Father. No one else can take those away and give them to God. Only you can cast all your anxieties on the one who cares for you. What a better way to start the day than by laying your cares at His feet? 0 comments Friday, May 25, 2007 ( God's Name in Your Heart @ 10:11 PM ) When you are confused about the future, go to your Jehovah-raah, your caring shepherd. When you are anxious about provision, talk to Jehovah-jireh, the Lord who provides. Are your challenges too great? Seek the help of Jehovah-shalom, the Lord is your peace. Is your body sick? Are your emotions weak? Jehovah-rophe, the Lord who heals you, will see you now. Do you feel like a soldier stranded behind enemy lines? Take refuge in Jehovah-nissi, the Lord my banner. God is:- the shepherd who guides, the Lord who provides, the voice who brings peace in the storm, the physician who heals the sick and the banner that guides the soldier 0 comments ( The Branch and The Vine @ 11:10 AM ) God also uses the temple to depict the intimacy he desires, "Don't you know," Paul writes, "that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, who lives in you ans was given to you by God?" (1 Cor 16:19). God didn't come and go, appear and disappear. He was a permanent presence, always available. What incredibly good news for us! We are NEVER away from God! Remain in me, and I will remain in you. A branch cannot produce fruit alone but must remain in the vine. - John 15:4 0 comments Thursday, May 24, 2007 ( Living in God's Presence @ 9:03 PM ) Give God your walking thoughts. Before you face the day, face the Father. Before you step out of bed, step into His presence. Give God your waiting thoughts. Spend time with Him in silence. Give God your whispering thoughts. Imagine considering every moment as a potential time of communion with God. Give God your waning thoughts. At the end of the day. let your mind settle on Him. Conclude the day as you began it: talking to God 0 comments ( Faith Meets Grace @ 11:36 AM ) Faith is a desperate dive out of the sinking boat of human effort and a prayer that God will be there to pull us out of the water. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast" (Eph 2:8-9) The supreme force in salvation is God's grace. 0 comments Wednesday, May 23, 2007 ( Spiritual Vitamins @ 9:58 PM ) Anxious? Those are the times to be especially careful. When you are blinded by life's disappointments, don't trust your instincts. Flying by the seat of your pants in the storms of life can lead to despair, confusion and vengeful responses that make matter worse. God wants to guide you & His Word is packed with wisdom and insights for living. His "Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path" (Psalms 119:105). Where He leads is always right. The closer we walk with God, the clearer we see His guidance. 0 comments |
